Programs for October 2013

Sunday, October 6
“Celebration of the Animals” led by Pat Gordon, Dana Gardner and Barb Harrison
We will celebrate the animals in our lives and the many blessings we receive as a result of our relationships with them. So, bring your well-behaved beasties (or photos of them!) and some plastic bags (just in case!) and let’s show our feathered and/or furry friends how much we love them!

Sunday, October 13
“Hunger in SE Ohio” by Lili Chandler Glover
Given government cutbacks and the sequestration, support systems for those in need have been strained. Lili will be talking about our area’s great need and the daily struggle of many of our neighbors. Lili is the manager of the Southeastern Ohio Food Bank, which is one of the many services offered through Hocking Athens Perry Community Action.

Sunday, October 20
“We the Peoples…” by Nick Yinger
October 24 is the anniversary of the Charter of the United Nations and is known as UN Day.  In this service, we will hear from Nick Yinger, a doctoral student in Instructional Technology at Ohio University.  Nick has a master’s degree in linguistics and has been a teaching assistant with the Global Leadership Center for the past five years.  He has led consulting projects in Vietnam and worked for both the University of Cambodia and the US Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Sunday, October 27
“We Remember Them” by the Circle of Gaia Dreaming
In what has become an annual tradition, this Sunday morning ritual will honor those who have passed beyond the veil. This service is intended to celebrate and honor the lives of those who we have lost. Please feel free to bring items for our memory altar. There will also be time set aside to share stories/memories of our loved ones.
