Sunday Services this month

August 3 – Byron Ballard, Herbalist, Poet

August 10 – Soapbox Sunday – Please consider voice to today’s service. Congregants are invited to share their “Soapbox Talk” , please consider what you’d like most to share with our congregation.  PG rated of course!  As UUs we value diversity of ideas and opinions within the context of inherent worth and dignity of all beings.  Hope to see you then.

August 17 – Unitarian Universalist past to present- Though the Biblical creeds held by Unitarians and Universalists have faded away since first promulgated some 1700 years ago, the values shared by Unitarians and Universalists have grown, and have now replaced creedal religious dogma, dogma that can still be found in many Christian faiths.  These universally held values not only offer an ethical and well reasoned path for spiritual exploration, but also offer shared value connections to those not affiliated with UU congregations.  Join us this Sunday for a quick summary of the creed to value evolution in the UU’s from its roots in Council of Nicaea to today. A modern snapshot of the UU will be given by pictorial descriptions of the General Assembly and one of the many summer institutes available to UU’s, (CERSI). Richard T., Susan W. & Wenda S.

August 24 – Celebrating and Supporting International Students the UU Way – We are pleased to welcome Patterson Adjei and Faustina Mensah to share their thoughts on the experience of international students in the area. Pete Mather will be the service leader and will connect international student concerns to our Unitarian Universalist values and will offer a call for providing all members of the community advocacy and love. Pete Mather, Service Leader

August 31 – Soundbath with Kojun Hayes

September 7 – Ingathering – Please bring water from your summer travels to share in our collective water chalice.

UUA General Assembly Highlighted

Our denomination gathers once a year for a General Assembly.  A time for all congregations , who have individual decision making within their own organization, to gather and determine what modern day issues are most important for us to put our support behind.  On August 17 we will hear from our own delegates to this years event.  We will also hear a bit about our  regional summer event, Central East Region Summer Insititute.  Here is a link to our UU World publicaion whicn talks more about this years GA in Baltimore, MD.

UUFA Celebrates Summer and The Moon Landing

On Sunday , July 20th, Jessie Roberson reminded us of how we can stand in awe and connect with one another as people of the world.  Jessie took us through the history of the Moon Landing and the complications inherent in space exploration.  We learned how important it was to the world at large and how we can channel that inspiration into our own UUFA community and world today.

Afterward, we enjoyed a delicious BBQ & Potluck Lunch and fellowship time together !
