Sunday Service: Spring Equinox/Ostara

Sunday 3/19, 11am-noon

Social Justice Movie Night

Saturday 3/25, 6:30-8:00pm
In this fierce call to action, director Ava DuVernay effectively doubles down on both educating her viewers and inspiring them to take a stand against racial injustice in 2016 America. Hoping to provide a semblance of political balance to her efforts in 13th, DuVernay asserts that both Democratic and Republican administrations are responsible for burgeoning prison populations and the devastating effect of past policies on an entire minority population.

Carriage Hill Fire Fundraiser Sale

The Salvation Army will be holding a fundraiser sale for the victims of the Carriage Hill fire.  In consultation with the families impacted by the fire, we have decided to make excess fire response donations available to the public via a “yard sale” in order to raise cash donations for the Carriage Hill victims. Items include new and gently used clothing and small household goods, as well as some small furniture items.
This fundraiser will allow the donations which were not useful to the fire victims to be translated into much needed cash as they rebuild their lives after this emergency. All proceeds will be directly distributed to the impacted families. Additional cash donations will also be accepted at this event.
The sale will be held at the Pool House at the Athens Community Center, 701 E State St in Athens. We will be open the following hours:
Friday, March 17th: 1:00pm-7:00pm
Saturday, March 18th: 10:00am-5:00pm
Clothing and small items will be available at $5/bag (bags provided on site)
Other items available as marked.
Volunteers interested in assisting with the sale may contact Cheska Brown at 740-797-1305 or via email at cheskaboden21@gmail.com. Other questions may be directed to Justin Gray, Service Unit Manager, at 740-797-1305 or justin.gray@use.salvationarmy.org.
We invite all members of the public to join us in supporting this important cause- and finding a great deal on many items!
