The Executive Board had another productive meeting on Nov. 12th. Thanks to all board members and leaders who attended to engage in the discussion. Here are some informational highlights covered at the meeting.
* UUFA to conduct monthly special collection for Athens County Food Pantry on Potluck Sundays. Our own Charlie Barman , Athens County Food Pantry Board Member, attended the Exec meeting this month to update us on his volunteer work at the pantry. Charlie reiterated that the biggest need for the pantry is funding. We will hold a monthly special collection to go to Athens Food Pantry. We look forward to this effort as it will assist us in meeting our community outreach goals for the year. Mark your calendars to bring extra $$ on Potluck Sundays beginning December 8th.
UUFA Bathrooms to be re-labeled to be non-gender specific – A proposal was brought forward from Buildings and Grounds and Communications committee that we change labels on the restrooms downstairs to reflect non-gender specific status. This is in keeping with our Welcoming Congregation status. The exec. board unanimously voted to make the change immediately.
2013 Contributions Status Letters to go out soon – Kev Polk, Treasurer is preparing letters to go out in early December to all members and friends who have made identifiable financial contributions this year. The purpose is to allow everyone to be aware of their recorded contributions so far this year. This will allow members to determine how much or if they can contribute prior to the end of the calendar year for tax purposes. As always, UUFA appreciates the generous contributions of our members and friends and we could not operate successfully without you.
UUFA to continue to be a Supporting Congregation of UCM – The UUFA board agreed to continue our annual support of United Campus Ministry in the amount of $300 . This was already budgeted for the year. UCM provides a connection and support to students at Ohio University seeking spiritual local resources while they are enrolled at the university. UUFA often benefits from these connections to the student body.
Open Board & COM Positions – UUFA currently has 2 open board positions and 1 opening on the Committee on Ministry. If you are interested in either please contact Barb Harrison (Exec Board) and Jessie Roberson (COM) for more information. We look forward to filling these positions in December.
