Good Afternoon UUFA Community
Many thanks to Katie Evans and Brian Richards for this past Sunday service “Spring Equinox”. It was a joy to spend time together planting seeds for the children’s garden.
Update from the UUFA Executive Committee
Our annual meeting is Sunday, April 8th and we need your help to prepare for next year in two ways:
First your pledge forms are needed. As you know our stewardship. drive is underway and we need members to submit pledges so that we can estimate our projected funds and develop our budget. If we can’t estimate funds then we cannot submit it for a vote at the meeting. Without a guaranteed budget the board will be unable to plan for next year – including contracts for Minister, Choir Director, and RE assistance; building and grounds maintenance; and a whole number of things we take for granted (I personally am happy for the paper supplies in the restrooms). Pledge forms are available at the fellowship and one will be emailed to all members later today.
Opportunity for leadership – Our nominating committee has put together an excellent slate of leaders for next year. Thanks to those of you who have stepped up and agreed to take on a leadership role. We still need a President -Elect for the fiscal year 2018 . The person in this role will take on the UUFA presidency in July 2019 after serving on the board for a year beginning July 2018. Please contact Pat Gordon if interested at: president@uuathens.org
Many thanks to all who have participated in the many small group UUFA Appreciative Inquiry sessions, and to Rev. Don Rollins, Barb, Jessie, Natalie, Katie, Susan, and Wenda for facilitating and notetaking at all the sessions. The small group sessions held at various locations have allowed us to get to know each other better, to tell our stories, to discover the best of our fellowship, and to make many wishes for our future.
Please join us for the next step of the UUFA Appreciative Inquiry process when we meet after service this coming Sunday, March 25th in a large group. The facilitators will lead us through a process of finding themes in all our memories of the past and building common dreams for our future. Food during the meeting is optional, but know you’re most welcome to bring a brown bag lunch, bring snacks to share, and/or order pizza to be delivered piping. Thank you!

OU Graduate Student Seeking Stories about Grief: Erin Clark, is a photojournalist currently in grad school at Ohio University. She’s working on a documentary photo project exploring the question of how we, as humans, cope with grief and the loss of a loved one. The project was influenced by the recent loss of her grandfather and soon after, her family’s dog. It made her think – how do other people manage their grief and what practices do we have that help with coping? In order to explore and cope with her own grief, I’m looking to gather stories from people who have also lost a loved one. I hope to talk to them about the loved one they lost and how they have managed the grieving process. It would also be accompanied by a portrait and an artifact or memento of the loved one lost. She’s reaching out to local churches in the area to see if they can help me reach community members that may be interested in sharing their story. If you are willing to assist Erin with her project please contact her via email at: ec289916@ohio.edu
