All of Who You Are is Welcome

Please join us for Sunday service where we will be celebrating Pride Sunday 2023.  We will lift up LGBTQIA people and the history of how UUs have provided a spiritual home for all people.  As a congregation we will be engaged in Athens Pride Events as coordinated by the Southeast Ohio Rainbow Coalition.  Happy Pride Month to all.

Barb Harrison , service leader.

The service will be in-person (facemarks optional) and by Zoom.

We are registered for the Pride Parade on June 10, including tabling at Howard Park during and after the parade. We need to provide our own table and chairs, plus bring our brochures, etc. I’m happy to staff the table while others parade, or we can trade off or whatever.

When the UUFA board members met on May 20, 2023, they discussed renovation to the heating system, continuing work on the soffits and fascia, and the recent installation of blink security cameras. Many thanks to Fred S. and Aaron for work on the outside of the building. Many thanks to Andy R. and Fred S. for installing the blink cameras. Thanks to Richard T. for donating the wood for the soffits and fascia.

Board members expressed concern about the number of heavy trucks using our parking lot. We will put up a sign asking that no semi-trucks come on the premises.

Richard T. has been contacting architectural firms to get an idea of a potential cost for renovating the building for handicapped accessibility and for possible daycare use.

The board agreed to make annual donations to the following local groups:

UCM Center, 18 N. College St. Athens, OH
Mt. Zion Baptist Church Restoration Society, 32 W. Carpenter St. Athens, OH
Southeast Ohio Rainbow Coalition
UUJO , state-wide UUs for social justice
Thanks to Jessie Roberson for coordinating our yearly pledge drive. Please look for information in the mail and please give generously.
The board encourages members and friends to march in the Athens Pride Parade on Sunday June 10th. Look for our Side with Love banner, and our table to join us. More detail about our participation in the parade is above.
