“Bribing God” by Patrick McGee

Come join our Service this Sunday, July 24th, 11am by Zoom or in person wearing an N95 or KN95 mask.

What do George Carlin, Janis Joplin, Joel Osteen, and Abraham the Prophet have in common? Consider your prayers—sacrifice or bribery? Is the growingly popular “Prosperity Gospel” graft or God’s way to reward his/her children?

Patrick McGee will shine his magnifying glass on our somewhat humorous relationship to the divine, and what we hope to get out of it.

MASK NOTES: Our board is still requiring KN95 or N95 masks (NO FABRIC MASKS, and no surgical masks, either) of folks entering the building for Sunday services or to use the restroom when we have outdoor events.

We have many folks who truly appreciate us flipping the “usual narrative.” Usually Zoom is for those who are at risk where in-person places are not safe for them. At the fellowship, we’re doing Zoom for anyone who doesn’t want to wear a nk95 or n95 mask, thus keeping the fellowship safe for the most vulnerable.

We do, however, allow our presenters to unmask when speaking in the front of the fellowship. Some choose to stay masked.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: SUNDAY AUGUST 28th 11:30am, OUTDOOR LUNCHEON with ALYSSA & ROBERT

Two of our newest members, Robert and Alyssa, will be bringing our UUFA kitchen to life again on Sunday August 28th for an 11:30am OUTDOOR LUNCHEON with beans and cornbread and whatever side dishes y’all bring.

Signups for set-up and clean-up crews will start circulating in August. For now, here’s a photo of their enthusiasm.

LAST SUNDAY: RHYTHM AND NATURE

Here, shared by permission, are Andy Ray’s final thoughts on finding peace through rhythm and nature:
–Instruments are all around us!
–We can play any time, anywhere. (You might have to find ways to be quiet at times, though.)
–We can constructively interact with our environment, which will help us to find our inner balance. That inner balance will then echo back to our external situation in a positive light.
