“Come to the Hills” A Quiet and Contemplative Trip to Ireland

Come join our Service this Sunday, July 10th, 11am by Zoom or in person inside our fellowship building.

Join Nate Kojun Hayes on Sunday, July 10th, as he shares stories, essays and thoughts about his recent journey to Ireland to scatter his mother’s ashes on the mythical Hill of Tara.”

Kojun will share reflections on the logistics and heavy emotions of traveling with ashes of a loved one and how we need to be very careful not to remain in a place of grieving for too long, and what to do if we ever find ourselves in that frightening and dark place.

Kojun says, “So many of us think of light as life, but I hope there is a light behind all of it, including death. Maybe the darkness of death that so many of us fear is no darkness at all; maybe it’s the end of our delusion of separateness from the light.”

MASK NOTES: Our board is still requiring kn95 or equivalent masks (NO FABRIC MASKS) of folks entering the building for Sunday services or to use the restroom when we have outdoor events.

We have many folks who truly appreciate us flipping the “usual narrative.” Usually Zoom is for those who are at risk where in-person places are not safe for them. At the fellowship, we’re doing Zoom for anyone who doesn’t want to wear a nk95 or n95 mask, thus keeping the fellowship safe for the most vulnerable.

We do, however, allow our presenters to unmask when speaking in the front of the fellowship. Some choose to stay masked.

UUFA 2022-23 PLEDGE DRIVE POSTSCRIPT

Folks:

Hi.  This is Jessie Roberson writing to you on behalf of the UUFA Executive Committee.  I wanted to take a moment to express a heartfelt, “Thank you,” to all of you who took the time to contribute to the UUFA annual Pledge Drive.  Your generosity and commitment to the work and mission of UUFA is duly appreciated. And, to anyone who would still like to make a pledge, rest assured that any such effort will be happily and gratefully accepted.  Your UUFA Executive Committee will do all that we can to make the coming church year interesting, thoughtful, stimulating and worthy of your support.

Be well,

Jessie C. Roberson for the Unitarian Universalist

WE’RE INVITED!   LABOR DAY WEEKEND – UU RETREAT AT CAMP OTY OKWA IN HOCKING COUNTY

Hi – This is Patricia Boughton from First UU Church in columbus. Every year we have a Labor Day Retreat at Camp Oty Okwa in Hocking Hills
We wondered if anyone in your congregation would like to join us? It is a beautiful location.
This multi-generational gathering is a great way to catch up and a better way to get more deeply engaged in our church community.  Swimming, hiking, group activities, star gazing, and napping all with other folks doing the cooking and clean-up.  Be sure to plan your talent show act and warm up your voice for the campfire sing-a-long!

–Take Care, Patricia Boughton, 614-589-3871
