This Sunday & Upcoming Food Donation Effort, Too

THIS SUNDAY – YOU ARE ONE GRAIN OF SAND IN THIS COSMIC OCEAN

Sunday, July 19, 2020, 11am   In this thought experiment, Brian Richards will take us down three dualistic rabbit holes: space/size, time, and freedom/constraint. The main idea is that we are but a grain of sand in both time and space, and both the blessing and responsibility of being one grain of sand in an impossibly big and long ocean. Come join us for this special interactive Zoom service.

MONDAY JULY 26th &
& TUESDAY July 27th
UUFA’s DONATION DAY FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

We all have TWO choices of where to donate food for our big UUFA-sponsored donation day for OU international students stranded in Athens without stipends or employment possibilities this summer due to the pandemic.

FIRST CHOICE: for an hour starting at 6pm on Monday, July 26th, Andy Ray will be in the UUFA parking lot to collect food donations from us to take to Baker Center on Tuesday morning, as per below.

SECOND CHOICE: Our official UUFA donation day is Tuesday, July 28th 9:00am-11:00am at the ground level entrance of Baker Center. Pull up to the Go Bus bus-stop sign; volunteers will be watching for vehicles and will unload for you (wearing masks and gloves).

We hope you can contribute. If you are donating from your own pantry, please be sure items are unopened, and not outdated. Food from your garden most welcome.

Items requested by stranded international students:

Please note that Cats Cupboard (the Baker Center free food distribution location on the ground floor) has extremely limited cold storage, and requests shelf-stable items only. Due to health and safety concerns, they are unable to break down bulk packaging, so please select individual- or family-size packaged items only.

NINE  UUs GATHERING IN THE THIRD DIMENSION
For the history books, here’s a photo from our first ever, brief, and careful July 12, 2020, parking lot service:

THE UUFA BOARD
will next meet on Saturday, August 15th at 2pm via Zoom.  All members are invited to attend.

THE UUFA PROGRAMMING COMMITTEE will next meet on Sunday, August 9th at 7pm via Zoom.  All members are invited to attend.

At their July 12th meeting, the programming committee discussed how to plan for the 2020-2021 school year until the pandemic is over. The committee is thinking about one Sunday with Rev. Don Rollins (as usual), one Sunday with a brief socially-distanced and mask-wearing parking lot service so we can see the outside of our fellowship building and each other in three dimensions, one Sunday when we all visit another UU congregation’s online service, and one Sunday where we do our own service. Please let a programming committee member know what you think of that plan, and all your other ideas. Thanks!
