Pride Sunday & UUFA Summer Vacation

“PRIDE SUNDAY!”   with delfin w. bautista
Sunday Service, via Zoom on June 20, 2021, 11am EST

Pride is a time of celebration in which lgbtq people can be out and proud without shame or fear. It is also a time of reflection in which we recommit ourselves to creating a just society where all are equal truly means all are equal. We will explore some of the history of Pride, our evolving symbols, and ways we can all be accomplices. Let us celebrate pride with hashtags, flag waving, and actions, not only in June but always.

Sunday’s Guest Speaker is long-time UUFA friend mx. delfin w. bautista, MSW, MDiv. (they/them/elles). delfin is a social worker, activist theologian, and diversity educator. delfin has a Master in Divinity from Yale University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. delfin is passionate about intersectional justice and resilience, especially around the experiences of queer people of color. delfin currently serves as coordinator and faculty for Campus Pride’s Advisor Academy and serves on the Vision Council for Call To Action.

UUFA goes on VACAY! (That’s “vacation,” y’all!)
We are taking a break for the summer from our traditional Sunday morning service schedule. Watch this space (the Greensheet newsletter) for details about summer Programming plans–we might have an informal Zoom discussion in our usual 11:00 AM Sunday time slot, we might plan a nature hike or outdoor gathering in our grove. The Programming committee is committed to providing at least two activities per month (July through August.)
We will reconvene for our In-Gathering Service on Sunday, September 12, at 11:00 AM in the Fellowship building and online via Zoom.

If you have any comments or ideas for the Programming team, please get in touch! suusanw.uu@gmail.com

$$ REPORT FROM THE UUFA TREASURER $$
The Fellowship’s new fiscal year begins July 1, 2021. As you know this pandemic year has presented challenges to our usual operations and, by extension, to our finances. We’re doing OK–not wealthy by any means, but OK. Many thanks to those who have made pledges for the new year! This upfront commitment from you makes it possible for us to plan for the coming year and beyond. We still have an aging building to deal with, but our energy for living our Unitarian Universalist values in the world continues to be refreshed!
If you have questions about our budget, please let me know! suusanw.uu@gmail.com

THE UUFA BOARD’S NEXT MEETING will be Saturday, July 10th at 10:30am. All members are invited to attend.

PROGRAM IDEAS?

The UUFA Programming Committee seeks your ideas of programs for our Sunday mornings. Would you like to present during one of our Sundays?  Would you like to share music or readings?  Can you recommend a good speaker?

The committee will meet by email during the summer. Contact Katie, Susan, or Brian for information during the summer.  Ideas most welcome. Check our website or Facebook page for the latest information.

HOW TO SUBMIT ITEMS FOR THIS GREENSHEET NEWSLETTER DURING THE SUMMER OF 2021:  Until further notice, please email items to barbunday@gmail.com and put “Greensheet” in the subject line. (Wenda is on summer break beginning after she finishes this issue.) New ideas, new columns, announcements, artwork, photographs, biographies, birthdays, anniversaries, and whatnot that you don’t mind being public are all welcome for possible inclusion in the Greensheet. Deadline for each week: Midnight Wednesday or before publication, whichever comes last. Thanks!
