Celebrating Spring with Our Children, Young & Old

Celebrating Spring with Our Children, Young & Old
Sunday Service 11am  IN-PERSON
In Our UUFA Parking Lot
184 Longview Heights Road
Athens, Ohio 45701
March 21, 2021

Join us for a spring-focused, pandemic-safe parking lot service, including music, activities, and socializing!  Bring a camping chair or folding chair, and one to share with others if you wish. Guests most welcome. Masks required, of course.

We’ll set up three tables in our parking lot for socially distanced activities….one with hymnals for signing; one with pine cones, peanut butter, and bird seeds for making bird feeders (great for children!); and one with garden seeds for your garden (available by donation to the fellowship).

And the best part of Sunday: If you bring a bucket of soil from a hole you’ve dug on your property, we’ll send you home with a baby tree from the fellowship’s mother sweet gum tree.  Imagine that!  Having a piece of the fellowship at your home!

Some cautionary words about sweet gum trees: Female trees produce large round seeds loaded with sharp spikes. Avoid planting near walkways, roofs, play areas. Sweet gum trees can grow rapidly to very large sizes, so be sure they have lots of room. Our forester member, Fred S., recently worked on an urban sweet gum 100 feet tall and 4 feet in diameter with a 75 foot crown width.

Thanks to all who have agreed to play a part in the festivities: Katie, Susan, Fred, Richard, Wenda, Roberta, Jessie.

NEWS FROM (UUFA PRESIDENT) SUUSAN

Hi Everyone!

Following our recent stewardship campaign, your UUFA Board is hard at work on a budget for our next church year. It will likely come as no surprise that our small, aging fellowship has been dealt a serious financial blow by the pandemic. There is no doubt that we will survive, but will we have the time, treasure, and talent to thrive? I think so; I hope so. Changes will be necessary, however, so watch this space for more details in the lead up to our Annual Meeting on April 24.
Imagine a clean slate:
If the UUFA didn’t already exist, and we were trying to start a brand-new, 21st century UU experience in Athens, what would it look like? We hope to have many opportunities for everyone to share their hopes and dreams for our shared future!
If you want to share your thoughts now, please reach out!

Peace, Suusan suusanw.uu@gmail.com ; 240-305-0860
