Peace, liberty and justice for all. For everything there is a season—a time to die and a time to be born. With the arrival of winter’s low dark sky, communities around the world look to the miracle of light as a sign of rebirth and a source of hope. We celebrate the promise of new life and recommit ourselves to the protection of everyone’s right to his or her own radiant humanity. We will review our UU 6th principle which states “We covenant to affirm and promote the goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all”. Through music led by the UUFA choir and sharing stories we will celebrate the season. We hope you’ll join us! Refreshments will be service following the service.
This Year’s Unitarian Universalist Association Common Read Susan W. and Andy R. want to invite others to join us for a reading group on “An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States” which is the UUA Common Read for 2019-2020. With 400 years of interaction between native populations and the European settlers/colonizers to explore, we hope this book will give us a better understanding of the full scope of history on this continent. Details TBD, but we will probably meet three times starting in January 2020 so we can tackle the book in sections. If you’d like to join us (even if you can’t commit to reading the whole book, you’re still very welcome!) please contact Susan at suusanw.uu@gmail.com so we can keep in touch for scheduling, etc. You can purchase the $16 book here.
FUTURE SUNDAYS & EVENTS – Subject to change—your ideas welcome. If you have an idea for a service, but don’t want to plan all the readings and music, we’ll do that planning for you! The next programming committee meeting is online via Zoom on Friday, December 20th at 6pm. All welcome to participate. To participate, download Zoom and ask us for the Zoom invitation in advance. – Katie, Brian, Susan & Wenda.
