UUFA Sunday – The Science of Happiness

SUNDAY July 21, 2019.  The Science of Happiness, by Brian Richards. Old questions have a way of generating old answers wrapped in new words. The Science of Happiness is a UC Berkeley class, and the vast majority of this service will be a summary of that course. The remainder is a splash of Zen wisdom and a handful of Existential truths, encouraging you to unwrap the gifts of the present. Coffee 10:30am, Service 11:00am. 184 Longview Heights Road, Athens, Ohio 45701

Concerned about USA Treatment of Immigrants?
In support of our social justice work, we are collecting snacks and supplies for transiting immigrants. Please bring items this Sunday, July 21. Items needed include:
–SINGLE HYGIENE items for hands, toothpaste/toothbrush, hand lotion, hand sanitizers, reusable water bottles, reusable bags or totes
   — FOOD – tuna packets (single serving pouches, not canned,) individual servings of peanut butter / other shelf stable individual servings of nutritious food.

Then on Wednesday, July 31, 6:30 – 8:00 pm at UCM, we will help pack these supplies for distribution to immigrant families who are transiting through Ohio as they seek asylum to meet family members or asylum sponsors.

Wise Words from UUA.org
“We have a legacy of  ‘deeds not creeds.’ Our work for a better world calls us to unexpected places as we harness love’s power to stop oppression. From grassroots community organizing to interfaith state, national, and corporate advocacy; in protest marches, prayer vigils, and press conferences; in homeless shelters and in prisons, Unitarian Universalists put our faith into action.” See more here.
